Spink, Bjorklund impress in Red Raiders' win

The Bellingham girls' tennis team defeated Lynden 4-0 in a makeup match from Wednesday, March 26, on Thursday, March 27, at Bellingham in a Northwest Conference matchup.

The Red Raiders only dropped three games in the process, with Mariah Miller besting Lynden's Emily Brown in straight sets.

The doubles pairing of Olivia Bjorklund and Ashley Spink impressed Bellingham coach Steve Chronister with their growing rapport with one another.

"Olivia and Ashley have just been playing really well. They just really seem to click together," Chronister said in a phone interview. "Both are good athletes, and they get a little better each time out."

Spink and Bjorklund won after the Lions' pairing of Rachel Wiles and Emily Thies retired after 5-0 in the first set.

Both the Red Raiders and Lynden are back in action on Friday, March 28, with Bellingham traveling to Anacortes and Lynden hosting Sedro-Woolley.
