Borderites push past Mountaineers

Blaine's baseball team got off to a hot start and topped Mount Baker 10-0 in six innings on Wednesday, March 26, at Pipeline Fields.

The Borderites got five runs in the first and coasted to the win.

"We came out against a pretty good pitcher (Cody Larson) and got a bunch of good swings in the first," Blaine coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview. "That's something we have been stressing, getting ahead early in games. I'm pleased with the way they came out."

Myles Peltier pitched five innings, striking out four but he walked six batters, including five in the first two innings.

"He got himself in trouble the first couple innings, but he found a way to get out of it," Linville said. "Obviously, we want to see more strikes... It's good to have that where you can dig deep and get yourself out of a mess."

Blaine faces Friday Harbor on Tuesday, March 31, on the road. Baker plays a doubleheader on Tuesday against Cascade and Cashmere at West Valley College.
