Storm fall to Anacortes 7-2

Squalicum's baseball team couldn't keep up with Anacortes in a 7-2 loss on Wednesday, March 26, at Joe Martin Field.

The Storm let up all seven runs in the first five innings until Connor Sage came in to close it out in his first varsity outing.

"He was terrific," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "He had great composure, changed speeds well. He had a great outing."

Another positive sign for Squalicum was the error-free game.

"We played really good defense," Inge said. "Both teams played great defense. They (the Seahawks) just hit the heck out of the ball."

The Storm know that it has to start hitting better to keep up with teams like Anacortes, Inge said.

"We just need to make better adjustments at the plate, start driving the ball the other way," Inge said. "We pull the ball too much and it didn't work."

Squalicum plays Ferndale on Saturday, March 29, on the road.
