LC offense plates eight in win over Blaine

The Lynden Christian softball team handed Blaine a 7-1 loss on Wednesday, March 26, at Blaine High School.

Kasey Luna picked up the win in the circle for the Lyncs while also going 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI at the plate.

"She threw well," Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. "We only had one walk all game. She was just putting the ball across the plate. We didn't click to put it together."

Lynden Christian opened the game with runs in the first and second, playing add-on later when they scored five over the final three innings.

Offensively, Blaine managed eight hits, but the Borderites were never able to string them together when runners were in scoring position, Burk said.

"We made a few crucial base-running errors that could have led to us scoring runs," Burk said. "We're still trying to figure out our lineup."

Shelby Brown hit a solo home run for Lynden Christian late in the game. For the Borderites, Alexis McElwain, Lexi Greguski, Mikayla Deming and Riley Miller all had two hits apiece.

Blaine and Lynden Christian are both back in action Friday, March 28, with the Borderites hosting Burlington-Edison and the Lyncs travel to play Sehome.
