Bellingham softball earns decisive 19-0 win

The Red Raiders' softball team surpassed last year's win total with a 19-0 four-inning non-conference win against Squalicum on Tuesday, March 25, at Bellingham High School.

Bellingham (3-2) put together an 18 run third inning to seal the win.

"We had to be patient," Red Raiders coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. "They gave us 14 walks, and the ball wasn't necessarily in the strike zone."

Red Raiders pitcher Eliza Rossman earned the win, her third of the season, struck out nine and limited the Storm to one hit.

Bellingham's Lindsey Richard went 2 for 3 with five RBI, Paige Jacobson was 2 for 3 with three RBI and Justina Allen was 1 for 1 with a double and three walks. Squalicum's Samantha Sandoz had the Storm's lone hit.

The Red Raiders play Mount Baker next to open conference play at 3:45 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Bellingham High. Squalicum travels to play Oak Harbor next at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 27.
