Instructors Doug and Nicki Silton will lead dance lessons at the first annual Blues Summit, March 28 through 30, 2014 at The Majestic, 1027 N. Forest St. in Bellingham.


Blues Bellingham will host the first annual Blues Summit March 28 through 30 at The Majestic, 1027 N. Forest St. in Bellingham.

Both Saturday and Sunday, instructors will host workshops and each night form Thursday through Sunday will feature a lively band dance.

Event organizers are proud to announce that featured instructors Doug and Nicki Silton will be in town all weekend, accompanied by live bands each night, including Andy Badd Dog Koch and the Blues Society.

The nightly live band dances will each cost $10. This includes the Thursday night regular dance held downstairs. Each regular dance comes with a different beginner lesson.

Each individual day of workshop classes (Saturday and Sunday will have 8 classes each day) is $75. Or you can buy the entire 4-day event pass for $150.

Registration will be open each day as long as spots remain.

Carol Casella, whose newest novel is "Gemini," is the author guest for the Chuckanut Radio Hour on Thursday, March 27, at the Heiner Center Theater, Whatcom Community College, 231 W. Kellogg Road.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and you must be seated by 6:45 p.m. as the show begins promptly at 7 p.m. Musical guests is Old Radio Tunes, with Mitzi Moore, Anne Griffith, Mark Ashworth and Thomas Harris.


Local moms are invited to kick back and relax for a night of art and community from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at Uptown Art, 23 Bellwether Way #101 in Bellingham.

Every other Thursday, Uptown Art will host an event honoring moms called, "Moms' Night Out." Each event will feature a painting selected from a vast art library of 2,000 works.

The cost is $39.95 per person.

Moms will automatically be entered into a contest to win a $75 gift certificate at Hearthfire Grill. The drawing will be held once per month.

Those 18 and older are invited to attend.
