Ferndale's girls' tennis team came from behind to top Blaine 4-3 on Monday, March 24, at Ferndale High School.

The Golden Eagles lost the first two singles matches, but won the back two and then won the first two doubles matches to top the Borderites.

"We got crushed on 1 and 2 singles," Ferndale coach Ed Sweitzer said in a phone interview. "But Trina Byers fought back and won her first game in a tiebreaker."

Carly Bannerman and Shelby Slaughter continued their undefeated season in the No. 2 doubles for Ferndale.

"We are so young and we only won two matches all last year," Sweitzer said. "This is our second win already last year so it shows we have turned the corner from last year and they're gaining confidence."

Ferndale plays Sehome on Wednesday, March 26, on the road. Blaine faces Squalicum on Wednesday on the road.
