Baker goes six innings in 9-3 Ferndale win



Ferndale's baseball team scored six runs in the second inning and went on to defeat Blaine 9-3 on Monday, March 24, at Ferndale High School.

"They made some miscues (in the second) and we were lucky to take advantage," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview.

Ferndale's Pete Pennylegion went 3 for 4 with two runs, while Tyler Schemstad went 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Kyle Baker pitched six innings before tiring in the seventh to get the win, while striking out two.

"Kyle did a fantastic job today," Hennigs said. "He was throwing strikes and we were making good plays behind him. It was a good outing for him."

Ferndale faces Mount Baker on Tuesday, March 25, at home. Blaine plays Baker on Wednesday, March 26, at Pipeline Fields.
