WWU's Baker named GNAC co-Player of the Week


Western Washington University shortstop Haylee Baker has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball co-Player of the Week for March 16-23.

Baker, a senior from Poulsbo, hit four home runs and drove in 12 runs as the Vikings split a four-game series at Montana State Billings.

With a homer in each of those contests, Baker set a school record for consecutive games hitting a home run.

In all, Baker had eight hits in 17 at bats for a .471 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.176.

Baker shared the GNAC weekly honor with Western Oregon designated player Raina Reece.

On the season, Baker is hitting .373 (22 for 59) with 24 runs batted in and 21 runs scored. She has five home runs and five doubles.
