Sportsman’s Warehouse in Federal Way will present a beginning fly casting class April 6. “The Fundamentals of Fly Casting” will be from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
The single-day event will introduce students to the fundamentals of fly casting, including an introduction to equipment, the theory of casting, leaders and knots. The session combines instruction, demonstration and practice on local waters.
Instructors include Darrel Martin, contributing editor to Fly Rod & Reel magazine and certified casting instructor by the Federation of Fly-Fishers (United States) and the Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (United Kingdom) and other store staffers.
Students should bring rain gear, a brimmed hat and protective eyewear. If students have rod, reel and line, they should bring them. Otherwise, free day-loan equipment is available. Students also are encourage to bring lunch and a drink.
