LONGVIEW: Town hall meeting focuses on hoof rot

A town hall meeting will be Thursday in Longview to discuss the hoof rot disease affecting Southwest Washington elk herds.

Using a question-and-answer format, staff from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife will talk about what is happening to elk in the area and what the department is doing.

There also will be discussion of the new elk tag and special hunting permit numbers for 2014.

The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. at the Cowlitz County Expo Center, 1900 Seventh Ave., Longview.

The meeting is presented by Citizens Action Group, Cowlitz County Commissioners and the department.
