Lyncs get two big wins in Chelan

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 22, 2014

Lynden Christian's softball team earned two big wins on Saturday, March 22, in Chelan. The Lyncs topped Kittitas 20-7 in the first game and then beat Chelan 11-2.

"Today was a great day all around for us," LC coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview. "Our pitchers did well; they threw strikes and let the defense do its work. Last week we had some error-filled games, but today we were proud to put a zero up in the error column."

In the Kittitas game Kasey Luna was 4 for 5 with a triple and five runs scored. Shelby Brown was 4 for 5 with a double and a two-run homer. She had a total of six RBI in that game.

In the game against Chelan, Lexi Vander Griend was 5 for 5 and Brown was 2 for 5 with two home runs, one three-run home run and a two-run home run.

"Our whole offensive outlook was to attack and be aggressive," Moorlag said. "The girls did a great job to set that tone early (with a 10-run first against Kittitas)."

Lynden Christian's next game is at Blaine at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Pipeline Fields.
