Zavisubin pitches shutout in Mariners win

Sehome's baseball team started the game with two runs in the first and Josh Zavisubin went the distance on the mound to secure a 4-0 win over Oak Harbor on Saturday, March 22, at Sehome High School.

Zavisubin struck out four in the game while only walking two.

"He was sailing along," Sehome coach Gary Hatch said in a phone interview. "When coaches look at pitch counts, what sticks out is when you keep your pitches per inning under 15. He did that five out of seven today and that's what's going to get a lot of wins."

Zavisubin also got the scoring started when he drew a walk and worked his way around the bases until Davis Hampton drove him in.

"Not only does Josh pitch well, he's our best hitter," Hatch said. "I like to get my best hitter up as many times as possible."

Sehome plays on Monday, March 24, against Squalicum at home. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Joe Martin Field, but due to unplayable conditions was switched to Sehome.
