Lynden's softball team redeemed itself with a 13-6 win over Sehome after falling to Sequim 7-1 earlier Saturday, March 22, at Daniels Field in Anacortes.

The day started well with the Lions opening the first inning against Sequim with a run. But it was all Sequim from there.

"Sequim is really good. Everything you're going to get you have to earn," Lynden coach Steve Petersen said in a phone interview. "When they get chances they take them."

Tanna Benson took the loss in the game, but pitched well.

"She did a good job of scattering them out," Petersen said. "She gave us a good chance to compete."

The bats of Lynden got going in the second game against Sehome. The Mariners recorded 14 hits in the game, including three apiece from Catyler Alex and Benson.

Hannah Rothwell was credited with the win. She allowed five runs in the first two innings, but only one after that.

"Rothwell settled down and threw really well after that second inning," Petersen said.

Lynden faces Sehome again on Monday, March 24.
