Squalicum Storm boys' track and field preview capsule

Coach: Katrina Henry

Last year: Finished second at Northwest Conference Championships with 102 points. ... Finished second at District 1/2 Meet with 102 points. ... Finished fourth at the Class 2A State Championships with 39 points.

Returning state participants: Neall Koetje (sr. 4x100, 4x400*), Tyler Ho (4x100, 4x400), Cain Duronso (jr. 4x100), Chris Fredlund (sr. 4x400*)

Others to watch: Kenji Maeda (fr. sprints), Joel Jensen (sr. throws), Andrew Napier (so. throws), Justin Rinauro (sr. distance)

Outlook: The Storm suffered a few losses to graduation but bring back a bulk of its fourth place Class 2A State Championships team, and coach Katrina Henry believes her group is fairly balanced all the way around. "I feel like each group has one or two higher-level athletes that could do really well," Henry said. Still, arguably Squalicum's strength lies in its mid-distance to distance runners. Headlining the group is Chris Fredlund, who has a ton of state-level experience, Jared Radtke, Justin Rinauro and Dillon Rinauro. Senior Neall Koetje won a state title with last year's 4x400 relay team and gives Squalicum a solid veteran presence on the track. Even in the field events, Henry said both senior Joel Jensen and sophomore Andrew Napier have put together strong starts to their spring.
