Sehome errors finish Mariners

SEDRO-WOOLLEY 10, SEHOME 7

Sehome's softball team had a five-run seventh inning, but fell to Sedro-Woolley 10-7 on Friday, March 21, at Sedro.

The Mariners were assisted by late-game walks by Sedro-Woolley's pitcher, but Gabby Gorosave, who went 2 for 4 with two RBI and a stolen base, and Morgan Henry had hits as part of the rally.

"They switched pitchers in the sixth and their pitcher struggled," Sehome coach Jim Emerson said in a phone interview. "We just dug ourselves a big hole early in the game. We kind of beat ourselves up."

Sehome's struggles came defensively, as the Mariners committed six errors in the game.

"It was just a young team trying to work their way," Emerson said. "We are going to have our ups and downs, and tonight was down."

Mallory Kruzich took her second loss of the season but only walked one batter. She has two walks in two games.

"She didn't pitch too bad," Emerson said. "She had to throw a lot of extra pitches but she kept it in the strike zone."

Sehome plays Anacortes and Lynden on Saturday, March 22, on the road.
