Bellingham girls' golf capsule

BELLINGHAM

RED RAIDERS

Coach: Brad McKay

Last year: The Red Raiders won their 11th state championship in 12 years. ... Sent four golfers to the state championships. ... Won both the district and conference titles.

Players to watch: Jenn Paul (Sr.); Madi McNeely (Sr.); Alex Ferrier (So.); Emma Lockridge (So.).

Outlook: Despite losing two of the best golfers in the Northwest Conference last year, Bellingham is primed for another run at the conference, district and state titles. Leading the way will be seniors Jenn Paul and Madi McNeely, both of which placed in the top-10 last year at state. "Those two kids are tried and true," Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. "They have state experience, and they know what the season is about. I have full confidence in their abilities to continue to improve." Behind them is a stock of sophomores like Alex Ferrier and Emma Lockridge, who will look to continue the tradition girls' golf excellence at Bellingham. "We're really going to see who is going to step up and fill that three-four-five hole for us," McKay said. Ferrier, in particular, has shown a lot of growth since her freshman season, McKay said, but the challenge for her is turning that into solid scores during tournament play. "We need her now," McKay said.
