SQUALICUM

STORM

Coach: Jeff Tetrick

Last year: The Storm finished sixth in the Northwest Conference standings. ... Advanced one golfer to state.

Players to watch: Tyler Hoback (Sr.); Tavo O'Connell (Jr.); Max Rosser (Jr.); Tanner Griffiths (Jr.).

Outlook: The Storm have a healthy group of solid returners, with Tyler Hoback and Tavo O'Connell leading the group. O'Connell is Squalicum's most consistent golfer day in and day out, coach Jeff Tetrick said, and with another year under his belt he will compete as one of the best in the Northwest Conference. "They are basically our inspiration for the team," said Tetrick of Hoback and O'Connell in a phone interview. "They pick everybody up and help people out." Tetrick has a stable of nine juniors, all of which are competing to make the back end of the rotation. "We're going to try to get a bunch of different looks as the season starts, and hopefully we establish a real solid six, seven golfers as we approach districts," Tetrick said. Thus far, he said he likes the competitive nature that is being felt at practice, as that's something that will prepare his golfers for tournament play. "There's a lot of competition without our team," he said. "Hopefully that will transfer into a better mindset to use having that pressure on their shoulders when they go out and play. That's something that's hard to practice for."
