Squalicum girls' tennis beats Lynden 5-2


The Squalicum girls' tennis team swept singles play and earned a 5-2 win against Lynden on Thursday, March, 20 at Lynden.

Ali Anders, Lindsey Belsher, Tirsa Randall-Grutter and Sarah Byron won singles matches, and the Storm doubles team of Kim and Rachel Dorr won its match.

Lynden won the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches, led by Bailee Mulder's and Kellie Fiebig's 7-5, 6-1 win over Squalicum's Claire Jackson and Katrina Stefan.

"We played well on a lot of courts and lost the games," Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. "The scores didn't reflect how close it was. I was proud of our No. 2 and 3 doubles teams to come out 6-1 in the second sets."

Squalicum faces Anacortes next at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, at home, while the Lions travel to play Friday Harbor at 4 p.m. the same day.
