A pair of late mistakes almost doomed Bellingham's baseball team, but the Red Raiders held on for a 3-2 win over Oak Harbor on Thursday, March 20, at Bellingham.

Pitcher Brad Johnson got the win for Bellingham and pitched all seven innings with three strikeouts, one walk and two hit by pitches.

"Brad looked great. He started off with 25 pitches in the first, then he cruised," Bellingham coach David Farrell said in a phone interview. "He pounded the strike zone, 61 of his 93 pitches were strikes."

In the top of the seventh Bellingham needed just one out, but two consecutive errors brought Oak Harbor to within one before Johnson finished the game.

"We need to focus on finishing ballgames," Farrell said. "We let up mentally and made back-to-back errors."

Bellingham takes on Sedro-Woolley at 4 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Janicki Fields.
