THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 20, 2014

BLAINE - Blaine School Board Director Susan Holmes submitted a letter of resignation Wednesday, March 19, citing an upcoming move out of the district.

Holmes and her husband sold their home in Birch Bay Village and will be moving out of the school district to be closer to family, according to the district.

Holmes has served two terms on the school board, starting with her appointment in October 2008 before being elected in 2009. Her second term would have ended in 2017.

The board will interview prospective candidates to fill her position and will appoint someone to take the job until the next board election in November 2015.

Her resignation will be effective April 15, pending a board vote on whether to accept it during the Monday, March 24, board meeting.
