Blaine tops Nooksack Valley thanks to blocked penalty kick

Blaine goalkeeper Tristan Hunter saved an early penalty kick and the Borderites staged a second-half comeback to top Nooksack Valley's boys' soccer team 2-1 on Wednesday, March 19, at Nooksack Valley.

Hunter made the diving penalty save in the 18th minute after a sliding tackle in the box gave the Pioneers' Jesus Martinez a shot. Martinez would net a goal in the 32nd minute to put Nooksack Valley up going into the half.

After halftime, Blaine's Nick Butschli scored a goal in the 51st minute, and Kai Griffin netted the game-winner in the 72nd minute.
