Lummi Island chef is finalist for James Beard Rising Star award

LUMMI ISLAND - The chef at the Willows Inn on Lummi Island is a finalist for a James Beard Foundation Award, which recognizes the best chefs and restaurants throughout the country.

Blaine Wetzel is one of five finalists for Rising Star Chef of the Year, which recognizes chefs 30 and younger who display an impressive talent that will have an impact on the industry for years to come. He has made it to the semifinals for the award every year since 2011.

The 2014 finalists were announced Tuesday, March 18, and the winners will be announced at an awards gala in May in New York.
