Squalicum's offense leads Storm over Marysville-Getchell

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 17, 2014

Squalicum's boys' soccer team fielded a heavy offensive attack in a 2-0 win over Marysville-Getchell on Monday, March 17, at Civic Stadium.

Gabe Bacco-Guidroz opened the scoring for the Storm by tapping in a deflected Christian Chala shot in the sixth minute. Tyler Hughes scored an unassisted goal for Squalicum in the 70th minute to seal the win.

"We controlled the ball for most of the game," Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said in a phone interview. "Our midfield contained them and snuffed out their offensive chances. I was really pleased with our depth."

Trenton Langer, Squalicum's goalkeeper, was relatively untested with just one save. McAuliffe attributed that to his midfield and defense negating any attack by Marysville-Getchell.

Squalicum visits Sehome at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Civic Stadium for a nonleague matchup.
