Maley pitches gem, hits home run as Ferndale rolls


Ferndale's softball team was firing on all cylinders as the Golden eagles topped Everett 8-0 on Monday, March 17, at Lincoln Field in Everett.

Lauren Maley led Ferndale from the circle, giving up three hits and three walks over seven innings with seven strikeouts. She also helped out on offense, hitting a three-run home run.

"We had seven hits, so we're pretty happy with that," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "Our defense had some outstanding plays in the outfield."

Kadence Kane also hit a home run for the Golden Eagles. Scarlett Nyenhuis was two for four.

Ferndale takes on Burlington-Edison at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at home.
