Carmichael throws five hitless innings for Bellingham in win

Bellingham's Charlie Carmichael held Nooksack Valley's baseball team hitless through five innings to lead the Red Raiders to a 6-2 win on Saturday, March 15, at Nooksack Valley.

"Carmichael played a great game. He came right at us," Nooksack Valley coach Scott Gelwicks said in a phone interview.

Carmichael struck out three Pioneers before handing the ball over to Brad Johnson, who struck out three more while allowing two runs.

"We hit the ball, but we hit it right at them," Gelwicks said. "It was a fairly solid game from each team."

Dante Check was 3 for 4 with a run batted in for the Red Raiders, and Oscar White was 1 for 3 with three RBI.

Ryan Gelwicks and Tanner Myhre each scored for Nooksack Valley.

Bellingham hosts Interlake at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Joe Martin Stadium. Nooksack Valley plays La Conner at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at home.
