Meridian off to good start with 7-1 win

Meridian's baseball team jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 7-1 victory over Sultan on Saturday, March 15, at Archbishop Murphy High School.

"The best thing is that we didn't make any errors and only walked two batters," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "We looked really good for the first time out."

Derek Campfield earned his first win pitching for Meridian. Josh Hosick was 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Tanner Tutterow went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs for the Trojans. Davis Phillips was also 2 for 3.

Meridian takes on La Conner at 4 p.m. Monday, March 17, at La Conner.
