SQUALICUM

STORM

Coach: Joe McAuliffe

Last year: The Storm placed second in the Northwest Conference after posting an 8-2-2 record in league. ... Squalicum finished 10-6-2 overall. ... The Storm lost to Sammamish and Sedro-Woolley in district matchups.

Players to watch: Hans Kogan (Sr., D); Arne Peterson (Sr., M); Quinn Carpenter (Jr., Fr.)

Outlook: The Storm look to have the same success last year, relying on a defensive backline led by senior defender Hans Kogan. "We graduated a few guys, but it's by and large the same group we had last year," Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said in a phone interview. "That's one big thing in our favor that not a lot of change in personnel." Another thing working in Squalicum's favor is the 11 seniors on McAuliffe's roster, leaving a team with no shortage in leadership and experience. Arne Peterson is one of those senior captains the team will rely on, McAuliffe said. "He's a natural leader, and the kids respect him," McAuliffe said.
