Squalicum softball capsule

Coach: Loran Zenonian

Last year: The Storm finished 2-18 overall last year, and 2-10 in Northwest Conference play. ... Squalicum finished 12th in the 13-team league.

Players to watch: Elizabeth Carter (Fr., 2B); Samantha Sandoz (So., P); Dakota Littlefield (So., SS).

Outlook: Squalicum is short in experience, returning a core of sophomores that will factor greatly into the success or failures of this year's team. "I'm excited for the experience we are going to gain," Squalicum coach Loran Zenonian said in a phone interview. Sophomores Hailey Linville, Samantha Sandoz and Dakota Littlefield are three who all have varsity experience from their freshmen years, and Zenonian is excited for their progression in year two. "They are capable of filling in the shoes that we've lost last year," Zenonian said. Sandoz will be the Storm's No. 1 pitcher, although this year will be her first full year at the varsity level. "We're hoping she can take off from here," Zenonian said.
