SEHOME

Mariners

Coach: Jim Emerson

Last year: Sehome finished 8-10 overall, and 6-6 in Northwest Conference play. ... The Mariners did not advance to the 2A Northwest District tournament after finishing seventh in conference.

Players to watch: Morgan Henry (Jr., C/3B); Mallory Kruzich (Jr., 1B/P); Gabby Gorosave (Jr., SS)

Outlook: Despite the Mariners not having a single senior on their roster, the cupboard is hardly bare. "Our leadership is going to come out of our juniors, and we do have a pretty good slew of them," Sehome coach Jim Emerson said in a phone interview. Gabby Gorosave, specifically, offers a potent bat in the middle of Sehome's lineup after hitting six home runs and driving in 35 RBI as a sophomore last year, and Mallory Kruzich is stepping into the circle to take over as the ace of the team. "This is going to be Mallory's first full year of being the main pitcher," Emerson said. Gorosave and fellow junior Morgan Henry are also seeing new positions this year, with Henry becoming the full-time catcher and Gorosave moving to shortstop.
