The Sehome boys' golf team opened its season with a win at the Lake Padden Golf Course, besting Squalicum and Mount Baker in a non-league meeting Thursday, March 13.
The Mariners' Jeremy DeLisle earned medalist honors after shooting a round of 81. His teammate, Thomas Mankle, followed suit with a score of 82, and Connor Wallace pitched in an 85 for Sehome.
The Mariners' overall team score came it at 427, while the Storm and Mountaineers finished at 444 and 497, respectively.
"For Sehome, it went excellent," Mount Baker coach Chad Hoidal said in a phone interview. "They had all six do a really good job. Squalicum ... had everybody return from last year, and they shot a really good team score."
Tavo O'Connell led the Storm with a round of 84, and Max Rosser and Brandon Weeda added an 87 for Squalicum.
Mount Baker's Kenny Wilson tied Sehome's Mankle for the second-best round after shooting an 82.
"Overall, just consistency," said Hoidal of Wilson's play Thursday. "He kept the ball in play. If you asked him, he didn't do anything well, but he had a lot of consistency."
