Blazers take series lead

The Bellingham Blazers split their two road games against the West Sound Warriors in the Northern Pacific Hockey League Cascade Cup Championship to bring the series to a fifth and final game. The Blazers won 4-2 in Game 3 on Friday, March 7, before falling to the West Sound Warriors 4-1 on Saturday.

Even in Saturday's loss, the Blazers still outshot the Warriors 28-27, the fourth consecutive game of more shots.

Cody Rich was the only goal scorer for the Blazers on Saturday, as the Warriors got two goals in the first and held on for the rest.

In Friday's game, the Blazers had goals from Ty Hubbard, Cody Rich, Kacey Walker and Gerin Hohl, as Bellingham outshot West Sound 40-24.

Game 5 will be played on Sunday, March 8, at the Bellingham Sportsplex. The winner will go to the USA Hockey Tier III Junior National Championships in Simsky, Conn.
