The Wings Over Water Birding Festival, taking place Friday through Sunday, March 14-16, in Blaine, Semiahmoo Spit, Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor, celebrates the incredible variety of migratory birds that flock to this pristine coastal area.
The daylong birding expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, includes live raptor presentations by Sardis Raptor Center, wildlife exhibits, craft vendors, and kids' activities (including build-your-own birdhouse), and bird viewing stations.
For $5, visitors can enjoy a guided field trip to explore Semiahmoo Spit to learn about birds as well as the geology of the area, or take a wildlife cruise around Drayton Harbor on the historic Plover Ferry.
