Free Bellingham forum Saturday about sex trafficking

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 3, 2014

BELLINGHAM - The issue of sex trafficking will be the focus of a free forum Saturday, March 8.

The forum will run from 9 a.m. to noon in the Encore Room in Mount Baker Theatre, 112 Champion St., and will feature three speakers who will address sex trafficking, the issues surrounding it and what the community can do to stop it.

The speakers are Debra Boyer, a cultural anthropologist who has done studies on homeless youth, prostitution and sexually exploited adolescents; Peter Qualliotine, co-founder of the Seattle-based Organization for Prostitution Survivors and founder of the Sexual Exploitation Education Project; and Aaron Newcomb, who co-founded the Engedi Refuge Ministries to provide a safe house and restoration program for women who have survived sex trafficking and exploitation.

Seating is limited for the forum, hosted by the Whatcom Coalition Against Trafficking, so those interested can reserve a spot at endthedemand.brownpapertickets.com.
