Draft of Whatcom County parks plan to be discussed March 6

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 1, 2014

Learn about the draft plan for parks and recreation overseen by Whatcom County during an open house Thursday, March 6.

Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department is organizing the event, which is 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bellingham Senior Activity Center, 315 Halleck St.

Parks staff will give a short presentation on the proposed Whatcom County Comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan, and answer questions.

The plan will guide the acquisition, development and funding of parks and recreation programs and facilities in Whatcom County.

It is updated every six years and is a requirement of the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office to maintain eligibility for grants.

A copy of the draft is online at whatcomcounty.us/parks.
