Whatcom Community college women's basketball guard Nikki Gilbert nearly recorded a triple-double while helping the Orcas earn a 72-65 NWAACC win against Everett Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in Everett.

Gilbert scored 11 points, pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and recorded eight assists. Teammate Kortney Grattic scored a game-high 20 points, and Alisha Friberg added 14 with four 3s.

"I thought Nikki had a great game," WCC coach Sara Bergner said in a phone interview. "She almost had a triple-double and that is pretty rare. She's definitely a fighter."

Whatcom led most of the game and made clutch free throws while executing its offense to hold on for the win in the final minutes.

The Orcas play at Shoreline next at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.
