March events benefit Meals on Wheels in Whatcom County

Several "March for Meals" events are planned to raise money and awareness for Meals on Wheels and senior community meals.

Over the past year, the Whatcom Senior Nutrition Program delivered nearly 56,000 meals to vulnerable and homebound seniors, and served 93,000 meals at a dozen sites in Whatcom and San Juan counties

- Bellingham events are at Bellingham Senior Activity Center, 315 Halleck St., unless otherwise noted:

March 7: Circus and dessert night, 7 to 9 p.m.

March 7-9: Frozen yogurt fundraiser at Menchie's, 1070 Lakeway Drive and 1301 W. Bakerview Road, suite 106.

March 14: Fundraiser at Applebee's, 1069 E. Sunset Drive.

March 14: Lunch with Mayor Kelli Linville, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

March 15: St. Patrick's Day breakfast prior to Bellingham's St. Patrick's Day parade.

March 26: Nutrition and aging symposium, 1:30 to 5 p.m. March 26.

- Events outside of Bellingham include:

March 8: Magic ice cream social, Ferndale Senior Center, 1999 Cherry St., 2 to 4 p.m.

March 12: St. Patrick's community dinner, Blaine Senior Center, 763 G St., 5 p.m.

March 19: Community dinner, Sumas Senior Center, 451 W. Second St., 5:45 p.m.

March 28: Community lunch with music by Claudette Dykstra, Everson Senior Center, 111 W. Main St., noon to 1 p.m.
