THE BELLINGHAM HERALDFebruary 17, 2014

BELLINGHAM - Whatcom Conservation District is accepting preorders for native plants leading up to its 21st annual plant sale Saturday, March 29.

Whatcom Conservation is offering more than 40 different types of plants for preorder, including evergreen trees, shrubs and ferns, the most expensive of which is $17.50. Preorders forms can be filled out at whatcomcd.org/plant-sale and must be submitted before March 17. Orders must total at least $100.

Preorders can be picked up March 28 at Whatcom Community College on Kellogg Road. The sale will take place there the next day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can buy individual plants at the sale.

Native plants can increase water and air quality, enhance wildlife habitat and reduce soil erosion, according to Whatcom Conservation.
