Beachcombers Fun Fair

What: The 27th annual event features two days of exhibits, seminars, information booths, artists and vendors, plus a kids’ science fair and beach walks.

When: March 1, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and March 2, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Ocean Shores Convention Center, 120 W. Chance A La Mer Ave. NW, Ocean Shores.

Seminars: Held both days, topics include an introduction to shorebirds of Grays Harbor, marine mammals of the Washington coast, a look at the Lady Washington, marine flotsam, the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary and beachcombing.

Booths: A number of groups, agencies and individuals will have information booths at the fair. They include the Coastal Interpretive Center, Ocean City State Park, Washington Coastsavers, Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Association and author Alam Rammer.

Walks: Rammer will lead a beach walk from 9-11 a.m. March 2, while Curt Ebbesmayer will lead the “Dash For Trash Or Treasure at the same time.

Kids events: “Explore the Shores” will take place from 10 a.m.-noon March 1. Children will be able to take part in an interactive program that allows them to visit with scientists and specialists in a variety of beach and ocean-related fields.

Admission: $3 for adults, $1 for children ages 5-12 and free for children 4 and younger.
