LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 69, FRIDAY HARBOR 46

The Lynden Christian boys' basketball team defeated Friday Harbor 69-46 on Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Class 1A Northwest District third-place game.

The Lyncs used an 18-0 run to put the game away in the second half, and Josh Hornstra had a team-high 13 rebounds to go with Zach Roetcisoender's 19 points. Grant Wolffis added 19.

LC led 30-29 in the third when it began its scoring blitz.

The win secures Lynden Christian a No. 3 seed in the Class 1A Tri-District Tournament. The Lyncs play Cascade Christian in the first round on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Cascade Christian.

"Our second half was absolutely fabulous on both ends of the floor," coach Roger De Boer said in a phone interview. "The way we defended ... Logan Carlson had five blocks in the second half alone. It was pretty exciting for us to be able to close out the week and get a really nice W against a really good team."
