Lynden's girls' basketball team clinched the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A Bi-District Tournament with a 64-27 win over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Sedro-Woolley High School.

"We were really excited with the opportunity to control our own fate tonight," Lynden coach Rob Adams said in a phone interview. "It was nice to see the kids come out and respond well."

Freshman Jasmyne Neria started the spark with her first career start and Adams said she really set the table for everyone else with her seven points, four boards and three steals.

But the 24-point outburst in the second quarter has to be attributed to the bench, Adams said.

"The key to success was the play of the bench in the second quarter," Adams said. "They really gave us a spark."

Lynden plays Lakewood in the first round of the Bi-District Tournament on Friday, Feb. 14, at Lynden High School.
