Ferndale's boys' basketball team fell in the first round of the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament to Mountlake Terrace 70-46 on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Mountlake Terrace High School.

The Golden Eagles started off the game playing well, taking a 30-28 lead into the lockers but quickly fell apart in the second half.

"We played a great first half," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "Everyone played hard; we played like a playoff team."

In the third quarter, Ferndale could only muster two points and lost the lead. "They wore us down and got more inside shots," Walton said.

Daniel Riley led the Golden Eagles with 11 points, including nine points off 3s. He also contributed three assists. Austin Honeycutt added 11 points as well.

"Riley played hard for us tonight," Walton said. "He's just a good floor general."

Ferndale plays Shorewood on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Ferndale High School for a loser-out game.
