Your help needed

The OlympianFebruary 9, 2014

When it’s this cold outside, those of us who live in warm houses are blessed. And those who are homeless need our help.

The Interfaith Women’s Shelter provides refuge for homeless women at First Christian Church, but they need more volunteers to keep homeless women out of the cold.

They need greeters who help check in women between 7-9 p.m., and overnight volunteers who stay at the church until it closes at 7 a.m. Other volunteers do laundry and provide snacks and beverages. The shelter also welcomes donations of new twin sheets and pillowcases, as well as toiletry items. If you can help, please contact Interfaith Works at 360-357-7224 or office@interfaith-works.org.

According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, about 700 people die each year from hypothermia because they are homeless. Let’s make sure this doesn’t happen in our community.
