Murphy's big night leads Trojans over Sehome



Meridian's girls' basketball team defeated Sehome 69-55 in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Meridian High School. The Trojans were led by Janessa Murphy's 18 points and six rebounds.

"Janessa had a lot of energy; she was all over the floor, she hit her shots and got her season-high point total," Meridian coach Mark Gilmore said in a phone interview. "She had her best game of the year."

Maddy Bryan led the Mariners with 20 points. Megan Bayless added 13 for Sehome.

Ryley Zapien added 16 points and four assists for Meridian, and Taylor Lunde had eight points and six rebounds.

Meridian plays next at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Lynden. Sehome's next game is against Lynden Christian at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at home.
