ANACORTES 38, MOUNT BAKER 37

Mount Baker's girls' basketball team suffered a 38-37 loss to Anacortes in a Northwest Conference matchup Tuesday, Feb. 4, at home. The Mountaineers were led by Emma Lallas' 10 points.

"The second quarter got us. I think we were a little fatigued," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. Mount Baker was outscored 16-4 in the second quarter.

With seven injuries in the Mountaineers' program, they have had to readjust their playing style. One of the injured players is leading scorer Emily Yost.

"They're all trying to figure out who is going to step up for her, and it's good we have time to do that before playoffs next week," Ellis said. "We're trying to find each other's identity again."

Mount Baker will try to bounce back in its season finale at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Bellingham.
