Self-defense workshop for teens, women Feb. 15 in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - A special 21/2-hour workshop teaching teenage girls and women to protect themselves is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 15.

The course will teach how to deal with various scenarios, including avoiding scary situations and how to stay safe at parties, athletic events and other activities.

It's hosted by Jamie Shannon, a life coach for teens, and will be at Shayne Simpsons Martial Arts, 1600 Kentucky St. Cost is $25. Participants must register in advance at coachforteens.brownpapertickets.com.
