Recycling up 4.6 percent in 2013 at Nooksack Valley Disposal

A local disposal company received more than 6 million pounds of recycled material for the third consecutive year. 

Nooksack Valley Disposal & Recycling customers increased their recycling 4.6 percent in 2013 compared to the previous year, hitting 6.3 million pounds. The company’s yard/food waste recycling program tallied 3.6 million pounds, up 6.9 percent compared to 2012.

The average household customer recycled 916 pounds, up 10 pounds from 2012, said Calvin Den Hartog, general manager at Nooksack Valley Disposal.
