The Squalicum's boys' swimming team had two divers qualify for state after scoring well enough at the Class 2A Northwest District Dive on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Fidalgo Pool.

Christian Herzberger (3rd, 294.95) and Griffin Korby (4th, 293.3) were the two state qualifiers for the Storm. Herzberger never qualified for state by score until this year.

"I'm ecstatic," Herzberger said in a phone interview. "I feel like it's the crown jewel of my time at Squalicum."

The other Whatcom County divers were Squalicum's Wilson Dierdorff (5th), Bellingham's Chad Cheldelin (8th), Squalicum's Gabe Kamkoff (9th) and Koa Hanks (11th).

"Overall, the Whatcom kids had a great meet today. There were a lot of personal bests," Squalicum coach Randy Elsner said in a phone interview.

Archbishop's Murpy Rory Kreuger won the event with a 330.65.
