The Sehome girls' basketball rode a 17-point performance from Maddy Bryan to earn a 40-34 win - its first win of the season - on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Sehome High School.

"We're really excited. It's nice to get that monkey off our backs," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview.

The Mariners forced the Cubs into 36 total turnovers, which helped push them to a strong second-half surge.

"We kind of picked it up and pressed a little bit more," Kirk said.

Devin Grahn added eight points for Sehome in the win.
