Lummi girls fall just short of first win

Lummi's girls' basketball team took another step toward its first win, but came up just short in a 35-25 loss to Highland Christian on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Highland Christian. The Blackhawks were led by Treena Humphreys' 13 points.

Harley Ellenwood added another 10 points for Lummi. Issabella James was Lummi's other scorer with two points.

"We played well, but they won the rebounding battle and got second chances," Lummi coach Randy Kaui said in a phone interview. "Harley played some really good defense and Bella (Issabella James) had her best game defensively."

Lummi plays next at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at home against Tulalip Heritage.
